Bangkok: The Meteorological Department of Thailand has issued an announcement warning the public about anticipated heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 26 to July 30, 2026. This weather phenomenon is expected to affect numerous areas across the country, particularly in the Northeast, Central, Eastern, and Western Southern regions.
According to Thai News Agency, the heavy rainfall is attributed to a monsoon trough passing over the northern and upper northeastern parts of Thailand, along with a strengthening southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is urged to stay alert as the intense rainfall and accumulated precipitation may trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in hilly regions near waterways and low-lying areas.
Maritime conditions are also forecasted to be challenging, with wave heights in the upper Andaman Sea reaching 2-3 meters, and surpassing 3 meters in storm-prone areas. The upper Gulf of Thailand and the lower Andaman Sea are expected to see waves around 2 meters high, with higher waves in regions experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms, while small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are recommended to stay ashore during this period.
Additionally, Tropical Storm "Noel," currently situated in the upper South China Sea, is projected to make landfall in Guangdong Province, China, on July 26, 2026. The storm is not anticipated to move towards Thailand, but travelers to Guangdong are advised to check weather conditions before departure.
