Bangkok: Thailand has firmly rejected Cambodia's allegations of sovereignty violations, asserting that it has consistently maintained its flag within its original territory and has not breached any international boundaries. The Thai government has also countered Cambodia's claims concerning the burning of warehouses, labeling them as lacking substantive evidence.
According to Thai News Agency, Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, who serves as the Director of the Thai-Cambodian Situation Information Center, addressed the statement issued by the Cambodian government on June 19. Cambodia had accused Thailand of unlawfully planting its flag on Cambodian soil, thereby infringing on its sovereignty. In response, Thailand reiterated that its officials were merely executing their duties within areas that fall under Thailand's security and operational jurisdiction, emphasizing that there was no intention to change the status of the area or the border demarcation.
Air Chief Marshal Praphas emphasized that any disagreements regarding border demarcation should be resolved through mutually agreed-upon mechanisms to prevent misinterpretations or escalations that could harm bilateral relations. He dismissed Cambodia's accusation of Thailand burning a warehouse in O'Semed, citing a lack of evidence to support such claims. He suggested that a joint investigation be conducted to establish the facts transparently and fairly. The Thai government maintains that any construction of fences or structures along the border is within its normal authority and is conducted under its supervision.
Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding, underscoring its dedication to the joint statement signed on December 27, 2025, and emphasized its preference for diplomatic mechanisms and factual information over engaging in media disputes.
