Thailand Prepares for Repatriation of Elephants from Sri Lanka

Bangkok: Plai Pratu Pha and Plai Srinarong are close to returning to Thailand as government officials expedite their repatriation. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Suchart Chomklin, announced that the process has been conducted with care, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the elephants. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has extended his full support for the initiative.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart is set to meet with the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Thailand on November 19th to discuss arrangements for the elephants' care. The meeting aims to prioritize the welfare of the elephants while strengthening the relationship between Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Thai working groups have already engaged in discussions with Sri Lankan counterparts and continue to coordinate the details. Mr. Suchart reassured the public that the efforts are sincere, prudent, and focused on ensuring the safety and dignity of Plai Pratu Pha and Plai Srinarong.
