Thailand’s First Tomboy Pageant Breaks Traditional Beauty Standards

Bangkok: The Thai beauty pageant scene is set for a historic shake-up with the official launch of THE TOM THAILAND 2026, the first-ever transgender beauty pageant in Thailand, at Calypso Cabaret, Asiatique The Riverfront. The event reflects the concept of valuing quality individuals who are ready to change societal perceptions and provide a significant opportunity for Transmen and tomboys across Thailand to step outside the box and showcase their potential to the entire nation, coinciding with Pride Month.

According to Thai News Agency, the grand press conference was led by Ms. Lek Boonrada Tipbhibal, founder and copyright holder, along with the pageant director, Ms. Nan Wilailak Sirisakorn (Bern), and Mae Not Maxim. It brought together top icons from across the country to help transform the contestants' looks and unlock their potential, led by three legendary masters: Ouan Return, Poom Vinit Boonchaisri, and Keng Tachaya Pratumwan. They were joined by a strong coaching team including Pa Tob Patinya Kuantrakul, Pimai Sumonrat, and View Piyawan Chuentako. The event was hosted by famous influencer Mod X from the channel "Muay Mod X Pretty Son Ong 324" and actor Thanapol Khiew-on.

Lek Boonrada Tipbhibal, founder and copyright holder, revealed the driving force and ultimate goal of establishing this platform, stating that while times may change, one thing that will remain constant is quality individuals. This isn't just about fame, but about the quality of their thinking, demeanor, and lifestyle. Lek believes that Thai tomboys in contemporary society have immense potential and much more to offer than they've yet to showcase. THE TOM THAILAND 2026 was therefore created to raise awareness of the true abilities of the LGBTQ+ community and to help them build their identity, create stable career opportunities, and establish a proud standing in society.

Nan Wilailak Sirisakorn (Bern), the pageant director, opened up deeply about her perspective on tomboys in Thai society, from the past to the present, including the selection criteria that break all the usual pageant rules. She emphasized that the selection criteria are irrelevant to appearance or handsomeness, stating that beauty is subjective. Being oneself and having determination are the core requirements, as the pageant seeks individuals willing to learn and strive for excellence.

Meanwhile, Nott Maxim's mother joins the team, highlighting the extraordinary prizes and massive post-competition projects that will change the lives of participants forever. The winner will receive 100,000 baht in cash, gift vouchers, and prizes worth over a million baht, along with a stylish trophy. Importantly, the journey does not end at the competition. Nott and the team plan to nurture the contestants into a company to create a group of tomboy singers representing four regions of Thailand. Additionally, series and short films are being prepared to portray the real-life stories of tomboys from various perspectives.

THE TOM THAILAND 2026 competition received an overwhelmingly positive response, especially from sponsors who showed up in large numbers, including Yanhee Hospital, Kyoh San, Sleep Like Royalty, Burn Tom Diiz, The Knot 6 Sene Mutelu Presented By Crow Clinic Uthaithani, Maharani Grand, Luk Studio, Luk Jamudi, NAN eyebrow remover, PKT PLOTLOCK Tattoo Remover, Aroi Katob, Lerner, and Code Man deodorant roll-on.

Applications are now open for Thai tomboys and transmen aged 18-40. Applicants must possess a unique talent or special ability such as singing or dancing.
