Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources (MSDHR) is joining forces with 14 other ministries to promote a central welfare database and integrate a system linking the rights of Thai citizens of all ages. According to Thai News Agency, the collaboration aims to create a central welfare database that will connect the rights of Thai citizens to reduce omissions and duplication while improving the efficiency of targeted assistance.
The government, through the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and in collaboration with 14 other ministries, is advancing the creation of a national central social welfare database. This system will link government welfare rights and benefits into a unified structure, enhancing the accuracy of assistance to citizens, reducing budget duplication, and ensuring that all Thais, irrespective of age, have access to their rightful entitlements.
Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongslueykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government prioritizes upgrading the country's social welfare system to be efficient, modern, and accessible. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, alongside 14 other government ministries, is developing this national social welfare database to centralize information on citizens' rights and welfare. Captain Patthadarasmi emphasized that this will lead to more precise and responsive welfare services that better cater to the people's needs.
On June 15, 2026, Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, inaugurated the project to promote a social welfare system for all ages. The primary objective is to establish a central national social welfare database as a vital tool for improving government welfare management and ensuring equitable access to rights and assistance for all citizens.
Currently, government welfare data is scattered across multiple agencies, resulting in redundancy and limitations in data linkage. Developing a central social welfare database is a crucial mechanism for consolidating welfare data from various agencies into a single system. This will enable the government to analyze data and determine targeted assistance measures, reducing operational duplication and improving budget efficiency.
Captain Patthadarasmi remarked that the government aims to upgrade the welfare system from fragmented assistance to a systematic use of shared data, ensuring that all groups of people receive appropriate rights and welfare benefits based on their individual needs. The initiative has received cooperation from 14 ministries and related agencies, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and others, to jointly design and develop a welfare system that truly meets the needs of the people.
The central social welfare database will be a crucial infrastructure for the country, allowing the government to see an overview of each population group, enabling more targeted assistance and reducing budget duplication. This will minimize the chances of eligible individuals being left out of the assistance system, leading to reduced inequality and sustainable improvement in the quality of life for the people.
