Bangkok: Tight security measures are in place to maintain order as Thaksin is granted parole tomorrow. Bangkok Metropolitan Police have laid out comprehensive security plans in front of Klong Prem Prison to receive Thaksin Shinawatra on parole.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul Sonthinern, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, has visited the area to conduct a planning meeting aimed at maintaining peace and overseeing security arrangements. This preparation comes as former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to be considered for parole and released from Klong Prem Prison tomorrow. Among those present at the meeting were Pol. Col. Yuthasilp Karin, Superintendent of Thung Song Hong Police Station; Pol. Col. Sakdidej Kamplanuphap, Superintendent of Pracha Chuen Police Station; and investigators from Thung Song Hong and Pracha Chuen Police Stations, along with the Investigation Division of Metropolitan Police Division 2.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul revealed that discussions have been held with the Department of Corrections, Klong Prem Central Prison, and all relevant parties to prepare for the event. A detailed plan has been developed to maintain peace and manage public gatherings, which involves the deployment of police officers, Department of Corrections personnel, and district office staff to ensure security and facilitate traffic. Additionally, cooperation has been requested from demonstrators to organize the gathering location in a manner that minimizes disruption to nearby residents and commuters on Ngam Wong Wan Road, particularly during tomorrow morning's rush hour. Efforts are underway to inform the public in advance.
Regarding intelligence efforts, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul confirmed that coordination with the Special Branch Police and investigative units of Metropolitan Police Division 2, along with Thung Song Hong Police Station, is ongoing to monitor potential third-party groups that could cause unrest. The overall situation remains orderly as of now.
