Bangkok: Colonel Thammanat Prompao, advisor to the Kla Tham Party, officially welcomed Mr. Ekkarat Changlao, MP for Constituency 4 in Khon Kaen Province, to the Kla Tham Party. Thammanat donned the party’s shirt as a symbolic gesture and expressed enthusiasm for Changlao and his team’s integration into the party. He also extended congratulations to Mr. Kongkiat Ketsombat, a prospective MP for Constituency 8 in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat addressed rumors about forthcoming MP transitions to the Kla Tham Party. He acknowledged discussions about MPs interested in aligning with the party’s ideology, particularly during his time in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Thammanat clarified that while movements are underway, reports suggesting these MPs are from the South are inaccurate. He emphasized that the identities of potential new members will remain confidential until all processes are finalized, with a press conference anticipated later this month.
Thammanat further commented on the origin of these MPs, stating they would be from various parties and not limited to one. However, he reiterated that MPs from the coalition government will not be joining Kla Tham, as the party seeks to share its ideology with opposition MPs.
When questioned about the potential impact of an increased number of MPs on ministerial seats, Thammanat assured that the party is not negotiating for additional posts. He reiterated that the number of coalition parties and ministerial seats remains sufficient and that the party’s focus is on building a strong foundation and credibility rather than competing for positions.
Thammanat refrained from commenting on the potential political ramifications of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s hospitalization. He maintained that political dynamics and judicial matters should remain separate, asserting that coalition parties will maintain their current structure.
Regarding Ekkarat’s transition from the Bhumjaithai Party, Thammanat confirmed discussions with the party leader, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, and reported no conflict between the two parties. He described the transition as amicable, with mutual understanding and no disputes.
Thammanat also addressed the certification of the MP for Constituency 8 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, predicting an imminent resolution due to the absence of local complaints. In response to accusations of vote buying, he characterized such claims as typical electoral occurrences and advised against undue concern.
As Kla Tham anticipates further MP additions, Thammanat emphasized the party’s commitment to national strength and strategic candidate selection, acknowledging the unpredictability of politics and the necessity for readiness.
