The Ministry of Labour Unveils SMART TOEA App for Real-Time Tracking of Thai Workers

Bangkok: The Ministry of Labour has launched the SMART TOEA app, a real-time location tracking system designed to ensure timely assistance for workers in case of emergencies.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and spokesperson for the Ministry, emphasized the importance of the app, especially since some workers may not have updated or may have uninstalled the application, rendering their location undetectable. The Ministry has instructed provincial labour offices and affiliated agencies to visit Thai labour families in the Middle East to raise awareness about the app, encourage its download and activation, and provide contact information. These efforts aim to ensure that workers can be promptly located and assisted during emergencies.

Mr. Santi reported that provincial labor officials and heads of government agencies under the Ministry have visited the families of Thai workers in the Middle East. Discussions with relatives revealed that the workers are safe, even amidst conflict, due to effective local disaster warning systems. The workers have expressed a desire to remain abroad for work, trusting in the safety measures in place. During these visits, officials also explained the contact channels available to reach the Ministry of Labour, Thai Labor Offices abroad, and Thai Embassies in the region to ensure immediate assistance when needed. Families of the workers expressed their gratitude towards the Ministry for their proactive measures and attention to the welfare of Thai workers overseas.

The Ministry has highlighted to migrant workers' families the critical importance of installing the SMART TOEA app. This application is essential for enabling the Ministry to track the real-time location of Thai workers, which is vital for providing assistance during crises.
