Bangkok: The Office of the Judiciary has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with commercial banks to enhance asset tracing and enforcement of judgments through digital technology. The signing, which took place at the Grand Meeting Room of the Office of the Judiciary Building, included representatives from the Thai Bankers Association, the International Bankers Association, and the Association of State Financial Institutions. Mr. Worakrit Charuwongpak, Secretary-General of the Thai Bankers Association, and Mr. Woranat Sukhosamit, Secretary-General of the Association of State Financial Institutions, were present to witness the event.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Teerathai Chareonwong, Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in advancing the country's justice system. He noted that justice is only complete when a judgment can be enforced, highlighting that the new MOU will streamline the verification of bank account information, shifting from cumbersome letter-based processes to efficient electronic data linking. This transformation is expected to reduce the time, resources, and costs involved in enforcement, ultimately benefiting the nation by bolstering economic stability and strengthening the rule of law.
Mr. Teerathai further explained that the collaboration extends beyond technology integration. It represents a shared commitment between the judiciary and financial institutions to foster a society where citizens have confidence in the law and the economy. Despite their different roles, both entities aim to create a more trusted and efficient justice system. The development of the electronic systems required for this collaboration involves considerable investment of time, budget, and personnel. This partnership underscores that national success is achieved not through isolated efforts, but through cooperative endeavors that enhance both the justice system and the national economy.
