Three Thai Golfers Share 35th Place in First Round of The Amundi Evian Championship

Bangkok: "The Amundi Evian Championship, the fourth major women's golf tournament of the year, is underway at the Evian Resort Golf Course in France. The tournament, played on a par 71 course, witnessed a stellar performance by 24-year-old Japanese professional golfer Aki Iwai, who took the solo lead in the first round with an impressive 8-under-par 63, featuring eight birdies and no bogeys. Following closely behind is local talent Perrin Delacour, who finished the round with a score of 6-under-par 65.

According to Thai News Agency, the first round saw three Thai golfers, Ariya Jutanugarn, Apichaya Yubol, and Papangkorn Dhavattanagij, putting up the best performances among their compatriots. Each of them achieved a 1-under-par 70, earning them a tie for 35th place.

Other Thai players faced challenges on the course. World number 2, Atthaya Thitikul, known as "Pro Gino," ended the round with a 1 over par 72, placing her in a joint 69th position. "Pro Mew" Pajaree Anannarukan finished with a 2 over par 73, landing her in joint 87th. Meanwhile, "Pro Waen" Pornanong Phetlump and "Pro Hut" Suwichaya Winichaitham both scored 5 over par 76, tying for 118th place, and "Pro Praw" Chanettee Wannasen concluded the day with a 7 over par 78, putting her in a joint 128th position.
