Zhejiang: Typhoon Saudel made landfall twice on the coast of Zhejiang province in eastern China on Friday, marking a significant meteorological event in the region. Typhoon Saudel initially formed off the coast on Thursday and proceeded to hit the province twice in a span of a few hours.
According to Thai News Agency, the typhoon first made its presence felt in Taizhou city at 8:05 a.m. local time, followed by a second landfall in Wenzhou city approximately an hour later. This event marks the third occurrence of a typhoon hitting Zhejiang province this year, indicating an active season for the region.
In preparation for Typhoon Saudel, authorities undertook extensive precautionary measures. More than 820,000 individuals were evacuated from Wenzhou as a safety measure. Additionally, ferry and train services were suspended, and a state of emergency was declared in neighboring Fujian province. This declaration led to the halting of coastal construction projects and the closure of ferry routes. As of now, there have been no reports of damage resulting from the typhoon's impact.
