Bern: The US-Iran talks scheduled for today have been postponed. The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced that talks between the United States and Iran, originally scheduled to take place at the Brgenstock mountain resort, have been postponed. However, the Swiss government affirmed its continued willingness to act as a facilitator and that preparations for the venue will continue.
According to Thai News Agency, the announcement of the postponement of the talks came after the White House revealed that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance abruptly canceled his scheduled meeting with the Iranian delegation in Switzerland. This meeting was originally expected to be the beginning of a detailed 60-day negotiation process to implement a provisional peace agreement and end the war initiated by the U.S. and Israel in late February.
However, a tense atmosphere had already developed when Tasnim, Iran's semi-official news agency, reported that the Iranian negotiating team wanted to see a clear sign of sincerity from the US in fulfilling the agreement before confirming whether they would send representatives to Switzerland. This reflects the continued distrust between the two sides, a major obstacle to ending the regional conflict.
