Bangkok: Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol Naowarat revealed progress in the case of Bangkok Remand Prison officers being investigated for allegedly providing benefits to Chinese inmates. He stated that the fact-finding committee has clear evidence and has begun taking concrete action.
According to Thai News Agency, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and the Director-General of the Department of Corrections have signed an order to temporarily suspend the Bangkok Remand Prison Commander, Mr. Manop Chomchuen, and the Prison Commander’s Secretary from their duties to preserve the organization’s image and ensure fairness during the investigation.
However, the Minister of Justice emphasized that this investigation is based on evidence and is not related to internal political issues. He urged officials to be honest and sincere in their actions and expressed confidence that the investigation will provide clarity to the public soon.
