Thawi watthana: A violent altercation broke out in the Thawi Watthana area as students from two different vocational schools engaged in a knife fight at a local market, leading to one injury and causing vendors to flee in panic.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident was captured by a vendor who posted a video showing two students from different schools chasing and stabbing each other near the Thaweewattana 9 market on Thaweewattana Canal Road. Rescue workers provided first aid to an injured male teenager before transporting him to the hospital.
A T-shirt vendor at the market recounted that the chaotic scene unfolded yesterday afternoon while they were setting up their stalls. The confrontation involved around six students from a vocational school in the Thonburi area being pursued by three students from another school in the Phetkasem area. The chase, which began on Khlong Thawi Watthana road, culminated at the market entrance, forcing vendors to scatter as the teenagers engaged in slashing each other with knives.
Despite attempts to intervene, the brawl continued until police intervention prompted the students to disperse. The incident has left vendors concerned for their safety, as the students were reportedly armed with knives and handguns. They are calling for stricter preventative measures from the schools involved, including policies to prevent students from wearing school uniforms during commutes and explanations regarding the possession of weapons in public spaces.
