‘Wirote’ Monitors Progress on 9 ‘P/N Tickets’ and Urges Legal Action

Bangkok: ‘Wirote’ has unveiled a strategy to address issues following a no-confidence debate against Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, focusing on the progress of nine ‘P/N tickets’ and urging adherence to international standards by the Revenue Committee. The Deputy Leader of the Prachachon Party, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, has called for the revocation of four title deeds of the Thames Valley Khao Yai Hotel and assigned Rangsiman Rome to proceed with legal action on the ’14th floor’ issue. He emphasized that the People’s Council will not resort to the ethics investigation mechanism, advocating instead for a sense of responsibility and resignation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wiroj outlined actions taken post the no-confidence debate against Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, focusing on legal and procedural measures. He highlighted concerns over nine promissory notes allegedly used by the Prime Minister without specifying payment or interest, suggesting these were intended to avoid tax obligations. Mr. Wiroj stressed the importance of an honest investigation by the Taxation Committee, aiming to protect public interests by adhering to international principles.

The People’s Party anticipates that the Taxation Committee’s decision will reveal a disguised transaction to evade taxes, necessitating the payment of back taxes and notification to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). The party plans to take further action based on the committee’s findings, focusing on the alleged disguised transaction and possible false asset and debt statements under relevant sections of the NACC Organic Act.

In the case of the Thames Valley Khao Yai Hotel’s land title deeds, the Prachachon Party maintains that the area is reserved for natural resource and water source conservation, prohibiting title deed issuance as per Ministerial Regulation and the Land Code Act. A letter has been submitted to the Director-General of the Land Department to revoke these deeds, with ongoing monitoring of the situation.

The issue of alleged preferential treatment for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, father of the current Prime Minister, has also been raised. Mr. Wiroj criticized the lack of transparency and accountability regarding Mr. Thaksin’s medical treatment and rights compared to other prisoners. He emphasized that all citizens should be equal before the law, urging the Prime Minister to address these inconsistencies.

Mr. Wiroj announced the assignment of Rangsiman Rome to file a complaint with the NACC to investigate the Prime Minister, with submission expected within the week. He addressed demands for ethical mechanisms under the 2017 Constitution to address the Prime Minister’s conduct, emphasizing the need for resignation over legal battles that could damage the country’s governance.

In his conclusion, Mr. Wiroj called for closing legal loopholes rather than exploiting them for personal gain. He urged the Prime Minister to resign voluntarily to preserve the office’s dignity, rejecting methods that compromise integrity and equate to the actions of tyrants in political history. The People’s Party plans to utilize NACC and governmental mechanisms to ensure fair outcomes, maintaining a focus on ethical and legal propriety.
