Yotchanan Convenes Meeting to Address Northeastern Farmers’ Issues

Bangkok: Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, met with representatives from the Northeastern Farmers' Assembly (NEFA) and the Northeastern Farmers' Federation (NEFF) today in front of the Office of the Civil Service Commission. The meeting included key government figures such as Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and other ministers, to address farmers' issues and schedule a committee meeting for July 8th.

According to Thai News Agency, approximately 150 members from NEFA and NEFF, led by Mr. Sakda Kanjanasan and Mrs. Buri Ajyotha, gathered to present their concerns and follow up on Prime Minister's Order No. 168/2569. This order, dated May 14, 2026, pertains to the establishment of a committee aimed at resolving the challenges faced by these farmer groups.

During the interaction, Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat listened attentively to the farmers' concerns and emphasized the government's commitment to addressing their issues. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts involving all sectors to ensure comprehensive and sustainable solutions.

The scheduled committee meeting on July 8, 2026, at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives aims to review the proposed solutions, assess progress, and implement resolutions effectively. Mr. Yotsanun reaffirmed the government's dedication to participatory mechanisms and integrated cooperation, striving for sustainable benefits for the farming community.
