Akranan: Mr. Akranan Kankittinant, Deputy Minister of Education and supervisor of the National Scout Office, has directed a nationwide inspection of abandoned scout camps, prioritizing safety before any camping activities resume. This initiative aims to ensure that all scout camps are safe and ready for use, promoting secure environments for scouting activities.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akranan has instructed the Secretary-General of the National Scout Office to gather detailed information on suitable venues for scout activities. A report on the condition and readiness of abandoned, dilapidated, or unused scout sites is to be submitted to the National Scout Office. In parallel, educational institutions nationwide have been tasked with preparing their venues to ensure safety during the upcoming school term, a period when many schools are gearing up for scouting activities.
Mr. Akranan emphasized the importance of scouting activities in instilling discipline, perseverance, and life skills in children, with safety being the utmost priority. He urged schools to ensure that all activity areas are stable, secure, and hazard-free. Furthermore, schools must develop comprehensive emergency plans, maintain hygiene standards for accommodation, food, water, and restrooms, and prevent the entry of disease-carrying animals. Sufficient equipment, particularly first-aid kits, and personnel capable of supervising students must be available throughout the activities.
As the school year commences, Mr. Akranan stressed the need for thorough safety checks, urging teachers to closely monitor students. He highlighted that ensuring safety does not compromise children's learning but instead supports it, as every student represents the future of the country. Schools must collaborate to ensure all measures are in place, allowing children to participate in activities safely and enjoyably. The Ministry of Education will closely oversee the implementation of these safety measures, aiming to elevate the standard of safety in scouting activities and reassure parents as the school year begins.
