Bangkok Police Investigate Complex Motives in Manager’s Murder Case

Bangkok: The Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commissioner has revealed new insights into the abduction and murder case of a young manager, suggesting motives beyond a love affair.

According to Thai News Agency, the Commissioner emphasized that ongoing investigations aim to uncover additional possible causes behind the crime. The Commander of Police Division 2 highlighted that a significant sum of money had been traced to the accounts associated with the abduction gang.

Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, the Commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, disclosed that during the arrest, the two suspects were found consulting lawyers to prepare their defense. He assured that the case file would be reviewed for thoroughness and accuracy, while also noting that the court-approved arrest warrants indicate sufficient evidence and belief in the suspects' guilt. DNA results from the Forensic Science Institute, Police Hospital, have confirmed the deceased as Mr. Rut, with an autopsy underway to determine the cause of death.

The forensic evidence currently allows for the prosecution of 10 suspects, although Sub-Lieutenant Phumeth, also known as Mr. Art, remains at large. The main suspects in this case include Mr. Saravee and Ms. Benyapha, with investigations continuing to identify any additional accomplices.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commissioner acknowledged the possibility of other suspicious motives beyond a love affair or family issues. The fact that Mr. Saravee hired over 10 individuals to participate in the crime suggests motives beyond a mere love triangle, yet the investigation is ongoing, and the suspect has not disclosed the true motive.

Police Major General Kiatikul Sonthinern, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, reported that Mr. Saravee and Ms. Benyapha continue to deny the charges, admitting only to a family-related matter. Investigators are seeking to clarify the exact roles of each individual involved. While it has been reported that the cost of hiring someone for the abduction and murder was 2,800,000 baht, the exact figure remains undisclosed as it forms a part of the case file.

Additional information has emerged regarding a potential trigger for the incident. The daughter of a woman with whom Mr. Rut had an affair informed a housekeeper, who then relayed the information to Mr. Saravee. This revelation reportedly angered Mr. Saravee, prompting him to collaborate with Ms. Benyapha to identify the man involved.
