Cambodia Shells Civilian Areas in Thailand: Rockets Strike Near Hospital

Bangkok: Cambodia fired BM-21 rockets into civilian areas near the Phanom Dong Rak district of Surin province, with shells found alarmingly close to the Phnom Dong Rak Hospital.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army reported that at 7:15 AM, Cambodian troops launched more than 50 rockets, impacting sub-districts including Ta Miang, Bak Dai, and Chik Daek.

Following the attack, military units and relevant agencies swiftly evacuated patients, medical personnel, and civilians to sheltered areas to ensure their safety. The Royal Thai Army is actively monitoring the situation and implementing enhanced measures to mitigate the impact on the local population, ensuring ongoing support and care.

The Royal Thai Army has strongly condemned Cambodia’s actions as a violation of Thai sovereignty and a serious breach of humanitarian principles. The attack on populated areas and medical facilities is deemed unacceptable, posing a significant threat to the safety of civilians.
