Bangkok: The Election Commission has organized a major campaign event to encourage citizens to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for May 11th. The initiative, spearheaded by Mr. Ittiporn Boonprakong, Chairman of the Election Commission, aims to ensure that the elections are conducted honestly and in accordance with the law.
According to Thai News Agency, the event, themed 'Creating Thailand, Going to Vote Together, Flying with Rights, Freedom by Voice,' was held at Bang Pu Resort in Samut Prakan Province. Key officials, including Mr. Sittichot Intrawiset, Election Commission member, Mr. Saweng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, and Mr. Suphamit Chinsri, Governor of Samut Prakan Province, participated in the event. The campaign seeks to raise awareness and promote cooperation among all sectors to guarantee a transparent and lawful election process.
Mr. Ittiporn emphasized the importance of the municipal elections in empowering local communities and fostering democratic participation. He urged all eligible voters to educate themselves about the election process and take advantage of the smartphone application developed by the Election Commission to access election information easily. He expressed hope that the event would bolster public confidence in the electoral process and contribute to Thailand's democratic development.
Mr. Sawaeng Boonmee highlighted the significance of municipal elections in local governance. He stressed that municipalities play a crucial role in providing public services, maintaining order, and supporting community development. The campaign also aims to reduce the number of spoiled ballots and enhance political participation.
The event concluded with a symbolic gesture by the Election Commission officials and network partners, who encouraged citizens to vote by making a cross gesture and launching a campaign group to further promote voter turnout.
