Bangkok: Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at a warehouse in the Phetkasem 77 area. Initial reports indicate there were no injuries or deaths.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators at Nong Khaem Police Station received a report of a fire at a warehouse in Soi Petchkasem 77, Intersection 1-10, Petchkasem Road, Nong Khaem Subdistrict, Nong Khaem District, Bangkok. They went to investigate and coordinated with fire trucks from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, sending fire trucks from Nong Khaem, Bang Bon, and nearby fire stations to provide support at the scene.
The scene of the fire was a large, single-story steel-framed warehouse. Fire was seen engulfing the entire area, with thick black smoke billowing and the sounds of explosions erupting at regular intervals. The warehouse structure began to collapse. Officials quickly deployed more than 10 water jets to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire was put out for over three hours without any injuries or fatalities.
An internal inspection revealed a large warehouse containing a variety of goods, including fuel, perfumes, and cosmetics. The scene of the incident was a small alleyway, making access difficult. There were also flashes of fire and explosions at intervals, but the fire was contained within a limited area.
Inquiries from nearby villagers revealed that the warehouse is rented by a Chinese investor to store various imported goods from China and is used for online sales. At the time of the fire, there were no workers or security guards present due to the holiday. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and forensic officers are preparing to investigate.
