Bangkok: The Government Pension Fund (GPF) is making strides to include informal sector workers in its pension benefits, offering new financial opportunities for a wider range of individuals. First-time savers are set to receive 50 TrueMoney coins and government contributions up to 1,800 baht annually.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Savings Fund (NSF) is also boosting financial security through a partnership with True Money, a prominent digital financial platform. Together, they have launched the "Easy Savings, Instant Returns" campaign aimed at encouraging retirement planning among students, informal workers, small business owners, and freelancers. NSF members making their initial deposit via the True Money app will be rewarded with 50 True Money Coins instantly, alongside government matching benefits up to 100%, dependent on age.
Dr. Petch Chinabut, Secretary-General of the NSF, emphasized the fund's mission to deliver pension security for individuals lacking government welfare benefits. The collaboration with True Money aims to simplify and broaden access to savings through technology, making it more convenient. The initiative provides comprehensive welfare benefits for informal workers and includes four key advantages.
Participants can receive government contributions by saving with a minimum of 50 baht per transaction, capped at 30,000 baht annually. Additional government contributions can be received, up to 100%, based on age, with a maximum of 1,800 baht per year. Participants also have the chance to earn a lifetime pension, potentially receiving up to 12,000 baht monthly.
Moreover, savings with the GPF are fully tax deductible, with a limit of 30,000 baht per year. The campaign, titled 'First Savings, Receive 50 Coins,' runs from June 1st to November 30th, 2026. TrueMoney account holders who have not previously saved with the GPF through the app can receive 50 TrueMoney Coins upon completing their first savings transaction of at least 50 baht. This offer is limited to one per national ID number, with the coins redeemable for cash, discount coupons, special privileges, and more.
