Bangkok: A middle-aged man was arrested for allegedly luring a 17-year-old girl into a massage parlor and raping her in the heart of Bangkok. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), specifically the Crime Suppression Division, under the direction of Bang Rak Police Station, arrested Mr. Somkid, 60 years old, on charges of "abducting a minor aged over fifteen but not exceeding eighteen years from their parents without justifiable cause for indecent acts, and rape by coercion or force." The arrest took place in front of a rented house in Soi Tesaban Bang Pu 61, Tambon Thaimai, Amphoe Mueang Samut Prakan, Samut Prakan Province.
According to Thai News Agency, initial questioning revealed that on July 31, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM, the 17-year-old female victim, who has a developmental delay, was waiting for her mother to finish work in front of a club on Silom Soi, Suriyawong Subdistrict, Bang Rak District, Bangkok. A Thai male delivery rider approached her and struck up a conversation. Seeing that she was alone, he lured her by offering to take her to dinner and offering to teach her massage skills so she could earn a living.
The suspect took the victim from the area, but instead of taking her to eat as he had suggested, he drove her to a hotel and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, he dropped her off at the same spot and instructed her not to tell her mother or anyone else, telling her mother that she had gone to the mall, and to keep it a secret.
Later, at approximately 4:15 PM, a colleague of the victim's mother spotted the girl standing in front of the club and called the mother, who then rushed to the scene and learned the full story. The suspect confessed to all charges.
