Monk and Disciples Test Positive for Drugs at Forest Temple in Wang Nam Khiao

Wang nam khiao: Administrative officials in the Wang Nam Khiao district recently conducted urine tests on the abbot, monks, and disciples of a forest temple in Udom Sap subdistrict, revealing positive results for narcotics. A search of their living quarters uncovered a significant amount of trash and women's underwear.

According to Thai News Agency, administrative officials from Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, along with the Chief Monk of Wang Nam Khiao District and the Chief Monk of Udom Sap Subdistrict, inspected the living quarters of the former abbot of the forest temple. This inspection followed an order from the Wang Nam Khiao District Chief on June 17th, coordinating with the Udom Sap Police Station to address drug-related activities. During this effort, two monks, including the abbot, and a temple disciple were found suspected of drug involvement, with all three testing positive for drugs. A methamphetamine tablet was seized as evidence.

Further investigation of the abbot's quarters revealed a shocking scene, with a massive pile of garbage, numerous liquor bottles, stacks of beer cans, drug paraphernalia, and several pairs of women's underwear found among the trash. Officials assisted in cleaning up the area in preparation for appointing a new abbot. The individuals involved voluntarily agreed to undergo rehabilitation at Wang Nam Khiao Hospital, with the two monks already having disrobed.

Officials carried out their duties in accordance with relevant regulations and laws, surprising many villagers who did not expect such behavior from their respected abbot. The temple grounds were notably clean and well-maintained, contrasting starkly with the disarray found inside the living quarters.
