Myanmar Man Arrested for Attempted Robbery and Assault in Chachoengsao

Bangkok: A Myanmar man was arrested for hiding in a house with a knife, intending to rob a mother and child at a grocery store. An exhausted Myanmar man was apprehended by the village headman, community leaders, and villagers in Wang Khu village, Thung Phraya subdistrict, Sanam Chai Khet district, Chachoengsao province, around 1:00 AM. He had committed robbery and assaulted the owner of a community convenience store around 8:15 PM (June 19, 2026) before fleeing into a rubber plantation where workers' quarters were located.

According to Thai News Agency, the mother and daughter, Ms. Areerat, 44, and Ms. Lek, 67, who were robbed and physically assaulted by the perpetrator, are still in a state of shock. Ms. Areerat sustained a long, grazing wound to her left arm from a knife attack by the assailant. She recounted the incident, stating that a Myanmar national entered her bedroom and stabbed her in the stomach with a sharp knife. She raised her arm to block the attack, resulting in the injury. The assailant then pushed her to the ground near the door. When the assailant attempted to stab her again, she dodged and repeatedly kicked the assailant in the stomach with both feet while also dodging the knife attacks, until the assailant fled.

After that, the suspect fled out of the front of the shop. The mother saw the suspect running out and shouted for help from the villagers to catch him. Fortunately, a good Samaritan who was buying something next to the shop where the incident occurred helped chase after the suspect. The suspect ran for about 500 meters. Just as the good Samaritan was about to reach him, the suspect turned and stabbed him, but the good Samaritan dodged the stab. The village headman, the village chief, and other villagers who came to help apprehend the suspect. They then notified the Wang Khu Police Station to take the suspect into custody for legal proceedings.
