Bangkok: The Police Commission has decided to withdraw the agenda item concerning Dr. Taweesilp's reinstatement as Assistant Commissioner General, asserting that the decision is not connected to the Class 14 case. The police spokesperson made it clear that with annual appointments approaching, a pre-transfer is unnecessary.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, addressed the media after the 5th meeting of the Police Civil Service Commission (PCSC) in 2026. The meeting focused on the potential appointment of Police Lieutenant General Taweesilp Vejvitarn as Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police. This discussion followed Taweesilp's temporary reassignment and suspension of his medical license due to a Level 14 case involving former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
The commission concluded that the appointment process demands substantial time to adhere to established procedures. With the annual police appointments set for July 1st, just a month away, and the Commissioner General effectively overseeing the Assistant Commissioners General, it was deemed unnecessary to pursue out-of-season appointments.
When questioned about any links between the agenda withdrawal and the 14th-floor case at the Police Hospital, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong confirmed there was no connection. He noted that with the annual appointments mandated by the Police Act set for July 1st, the short timeframe made additional appointments impractical. The National Police Chief confirmed that the Assistant National Police Chief could manage the situation within the month, eliminating the need for appointments outside the usual schedule. Trairong emphasized there was no external pressure influencing the decision, and the deliberation concluded effectively today.
