Bangkok: The Prime Minister raised his fist and said “Fight on!” before chairing a cabinet meeting to follow up on the fighting on the Thai-Cambodian border. Meanwhile, General Apirat Kongsompong nodded in agreement when reporters asked if the conflict needed to be resolved.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the weekly cabinet meeting. Prior to the meeting, the Prime Minister did not comment on the Thai-Cambodian border clashes, but smiled at the reporters, raised his fist, and said “Keep fighting!” before immediately entering the command building.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister General Natthaphol Nakpanich nodded in agreement when asked by reporters about calls from various parties to end the fighting between Thailand and Cambodia, but did not answer the question before immediately walking into the Cabinet meeting room.
Similarly, Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew has not given any interviews regarding the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border.
The main agenda item for today’s Cabinet meeting will be a follow-up on the fighting situation along the Thai-Cambodian border, following yesterday’s National Security Council (NSC) meeting which resolved to support military operations and the armed forces’ work in protecting national sovereignty and public security.
Four ministers have requested leave from today’s meeting: Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society; Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, Deputy Minister of Defence; Mr. Sakda Wichiansilp, Deputy Minister of Interior; and Chief Petty Officer Yotsing Liemlert, Deputy Minister of Industry.
