Nonthaburi: The Prime Minister visited Thepsirin Nonthaburi School following a devastating shooting incident that resulted in 8 fatalities and left 36 individuals injured. Nine of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. The school has announced a closure from August 10-14 in response to the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and his delegation, arrived at the school and proceeded to a meeting room in Building 4. There, they met with the school director and representatives from various agencies, including the Royal Thai Police and the Ministry of Education, to receive a comprehensive report on the incident. The Prime Minister was also briefed on the situation at the incident site on the sixth floor of Building 5.
The Prime Minister expressed his regret over the events, noting that there were still over 30 rounds of ammunition remaining in the perpetrator's possession. He stated that the tragedy could have been worse if the assailant had not taken his own life. The incident was reportedly driven by stress related to academic pressures, exacerbated by the strict expectations of the perpetrator's grandparents, who were educators.
