Prime Minister’s Vietnam Visit Strengthens Bilateral Ties and Cooperation

Bangkok: The Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam has resulted in positive outcomes, setting the stage for broadened cooperation across numerous sectors.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, the Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's recent visit was fruitful in political, economic, and people-to-people dimensions. The visit notably emphasized trade, investment, and maritime security, further enhancing tourism and elevating Thai-Vietnamese relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The spokesperson highlighted that Thailand and Vietnam aim to work collaboratively to foster growth and achieve substantial progress in various areas, viewing Vietnam not as a competitor but as a partner. This partnership is encapsulated in the notion of "1 + 1 = 3", where each country leverages the other's strengths to maximize benefits. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of translating discussions into practical implementation, marking a new dimension for ASEAN by building solidarity and strengthening its global competitiveness.

Ms. Ratchada also mentioned that the countries have agreed to boost bilateral trade towards a target of US$25 billion. Regarding the Land Bridge project, Thailand considers it beneficial for both Thai citizens and global trade. Nonetheless, the government is open to public feedback and concerns.

In a gesture symbolizing strong relations, Thailand will send cranes to Vietnam following discussions between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Vietnamese officials. Last year, Thailand sent six pairs of cranes to Vietnam, with expectations to send another six this year.
