Royal Procession Honors Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s Final Journey

Bangkok: The solemn procession of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha's body took place, marking her final journey from Chulalongkorn Hospital to the Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall in the Grand Palace. At 4:26 PM, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen arrived at the hospital to accompany the royal body, as crowds gathered to pay their last respects.

According to Thai News Agency, the streets around Chulalongkorn Hospital were filled with people who gathered to honor the late princess. Many mourners, dressed in black, held pictures of His Majesty and bowed in silent reverence as the royal motorcade passed. The atmosphere was one of deep respect and loyalty.

Medical personnel and staff from Chulalongkorn Hospital lined the route to pay tribute to His Majesty, whose dedication to royal duties has touched the hearts of many. The "James Bond" Volkswagen T4, a grey vehicle with blue stripes, was used to transport the princess's body. This car has previously carried the remains of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.

The procession route included several significant roads and landmarks, stretching approximately 10 kilometers. As the motorcade moved through the city, large gatherings of people stood silently, expressing their sorrow and bidding farewell to the princess.

In interviews with mourners, Mrs. Chadaporn Chotisang shared her emotional experience, stating that despite the heat, she felt compelled to honor the princess's memory. Her admiration for the late princess's work, especially in justice and rehabilitation, was evident. Dr. Pathomporn Aphaichit, a registered nurse, expressed her connection to the Chakri dynasty and her grief over the loss of someone she considered an inspiration.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha's contributions to the nation, including her work with the Friends in Need Foundation during floods, have left a lasting impact. Her dedication to public service without seeking recognition is remembered fondly. Dr. Pathomporn reflected on the unexpected nature of the princess's passing, acknowledging the profound sense of loss felt by the nation.
