Bangkok: Suchart Chomklin, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, issued an apology to reporters following a heated exchange during an interview. Despite the incident, the media appeared unperturbed and willing to overlook the minor confrontation.
According to Thai News Agency, the altercation involved a shoulder-bump incident between Mr. Suchart and a journalist, which occurred following a Cabinet meeting. Approximately an hour and a half after the incident, Mr. Suchart had his team reach out to the journalist in question to apologize and address the misunderstanding. Demonstrating his commitment to resolving the issue, Mr. Suchart left the Cabinet meeting room, even though the meeting had not concluded, to meet with the journalist at the Government House press room.
Upon meeting the journalist, Mr. Suchart offered a respectful apology by raising his hands and stating, "I'm sorry, sir," before shaking hands. He engaged in a discussion to clear the air, reiterating his apology and acknowledging the possibility of differing perspectives. The journalist assured Mr. Suchart that he harbored no resentment, dismissing the incident as a minor issue. Concluding the encounter, Mr. Suchart expressed his apologies once more to the media, demonstrating his willingness to accept advice and learn from the experience.
