Suchart Confident in Pirapan’s Legal Acumen Amid Company Shareholding Accusation

Bangkok: “Suchart” believes “Pirapan” is skilled in law and can adequately explain himself concerning accusations of holding shares in a private company. He remains unfazed about potential impacts on the party, asserting that there are many competent individuals within their ranks.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce, addressed the situation involving Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, who is accused of holding shares in four private companies. Mr. Suchart stated that his knowledge of the details comes from news reports, but he is confident that Mr. Pirapan, being well-versed in law, can clarify the situation himself. He emphasized that the explanation should come from the party secretary, as it pertains to a personal matter.

When questioned about the potential requirement for Mr. Pirapan to provide an explanation, Mr. Suchart reiterated his belief in Mr. Pirapan’s legal expertise, suggesting that he will be capable of addressing the matter effectively.

Regarding concerns about the ministerial positions’ future, Mr. Suchart pointed out that these roles are under the Prime Minister’s jurisdiction. He stressed that current ministers owe their appointments to the Prime Minister and expressed confidence in Mr. Pirapan’s ability to elucidate the issue.

Mr. Suchart was also asked if the case could affect the Prime Minister. He admitted to lacking detailed information, having only heard about it through media reports, and noted that no official information was available at the time.

On the topic of stability in negotiations, Mr. Suchart conveyed that it might not be significantly affected. However, he suggested that inquiries should be directed to the party executive committee or the party secretary for clarification.
