Beijing: The Thai women's volleyball team is eagerly anticipating the return of Thaddao Nuekjaeng, affectionately known as "Nan," as they prepare to face South Korea in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship in China.
According to Thai News Agency, head coach "Coach Ott" Kiatipong Ratchatagriengkrai led the team through a rigorous training session yesterday to prime them for the upcoming match. The Thai team has demonstrated a strong performance in the tournament thus far, winning all three of their group B matches and securing a flawless 9 points while dropping only one set. Coach Ott's training concentrated on bolstering the team's defense, blocking, and overall system in preparation for their match against South Korea, who finished 6th overall. Thailand, on the other hand, holds the 3rd position, trailing behind China and Japan.
Lt. Col. Dr. Anuwat Vallapapan, the team's physician, shared an update on Thaddao Nuekjaeng's injury, noting that her condition has shown improvement. She is now able to bear weight on her leg and participated in light training yesterday, raising hopes for her participation in the pivotal quarterfinal clash.
Today's quarter-final match is scheduled for 1:00 PM, with Thailand aiming to defend their title as the reigning Asian champions. A victory would not only reinforce their status as a three-time Asian champion but also guarantee them a coveted quota spot in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA.
