Thailand and Australia Forge Cultural Cooperation to Mark 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Bangkok: Sabida negotiates a big deal with Australia to return Thai artifacts to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. Sabida personally takes the lead in discussions with the Australian Minister of Culture regarding the return of Thai artifacts to Australia and preparations for celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations, promoting five areas of cultural cooperation.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Tony Burke, Minister for the Arts of the Commonwealth of Australia. The purpose of the discussion was to promote relations and expand cooperation in the arts and culture between the two countries in a tangible way.

They discussed five key areas of cooperation, including: coordinating the return of Thai artifacts currently in Australia to Thailand; undertaking important joint activities such as Bangkok Design Week; and collaborating on developing the capabilities of art professionals through artist, expert, and artist-in-residence exchange programs.

Furthermore, the organization of arts and cultural activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Australia aims to promote cultural diplomacy, a key policy of the Ministry of Culture, and to develop an Action Plan for cultural cooperation. This builds upon the cultural agreement signed in 1974 to achieve more tangible results.
