Thailand Triumphs Over Bulgaria in Straight Sets at VNL 2026

Bangkok: Thailand defeated Bulgaria 3-0 sets in VNL 2026. The Thai women's volleyball team displayed a strong performance, defeating Bulgaria 3-0 sets to secure their first victory in the 2026 Women's Nations League.

According to Thai News Agency, the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League, Week 2, at Indoor Stadium Hua Mak, saw the Thai women's national volleyball team, ranked 25th in the world, who lost their first game to Ukraine 2-3 sets, face Bulgaria, ranked 22nd in the world, who lost to Poland 0-3 sets. Head coach Kiattipong Ratchatagriengkrai fielded a starting six consisting of captain Pornpun Guedparach, Wimonrat Thanaphan, Atcharaporn Kongyot, Thaddao Nuekjeng, Pimpichaya Kokram, Sasipaporn Chantavisut, and libero Jidapa Nahuanong. Bulgaria was led by their star hitter, Mikaela Stojanova.

The Thai women's volleyball team delivered an outstanding performance, utilizing a variety of attacking strategies to score points and win 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, and 25-17). This victory marked their first win of the season, earning them 3 points and bringing their total to 6 points. This moves them up to 14th in the standings and also improves their world ranking to 20th. Bulgaria remained on 3 points and dropped to 17th place.

After the game, Coach Ott praised all the players for their dedication and thanked the coaching staff and all the volleyball fans for their support, calling it a miraculous force that helped the team overcome the difficult obstacles in the first week.

"Aomsin" Sasiporn Chantavisut opened up after leading her team to victory, admitting that the win came from determination, learning from mistakes, and making adjustments. From now on, she intends to earn points in every match.

"Paen" Piyanut Paennoy said that her role was changed from libero to a defensive player in the back line. The main reason was a minor injury that prevented her from playing for an extended period. She felt happy and relieved that the team secured their first victory.

For the next matches, the Thai women's team will play Canada on Saturday, June 20th, and the Netherlands on Sunday, June 21st. All matches will be played at 8:30 PM.
