Tragic Accidental Shooting Claims Young Man’s Life in Phibun Mangsahan

Bangkok: A 20-year-old man was tragically killed in an accidental shooting incident early this morning in Phibun Mangsahan District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The incident occurred when Mr. Tinkorn, 37, allegedly mishandled a short-barreled shotgun while drinking with the victim, Mr. Sarawut, also known as Benz.

According to Thai News Agency, the Phibun Mangsahan Police Station received an urgent report of the shooting inside a house in Nong Hai Village. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Sarawut on a wooden platform, with a fatal gunshot wound to his right eye. Mr. Tinkorn, who confessed to the accidental shooting, was found waiting at the scene to surrender himself to the authorities. He was taken into custody, and the homemade 12-gauge handgun was seized as evidence.

Mr. Tinkorn admitted that both he and the deceased had been consuming alcohol together when he retrieved the homemade shotgun to playfully tease his younger friend. The firearm unexpectedly discharged, resulting in the tragic death of Mr. Sarawut. After the incident, Mr. Tinkorn calmly contacted the police and awaited their arrival to take responsibility for the accident.

Mrs. Vivian, the mother of Mr. Tinkorn, recounted that she was unaware of the incident until informed by her daughter-in-law at 3 AM when the police arrived. She expressed her shock and stated that she had never seen the gun before. She was unable to confirm whether her son was responsible, noting that the two men had always been on good terms.

Ms. Kien, the aunt of the deceased, corroborated that there had been no prior conflicts between Mr. Tinkorn and her nephew. Despite Mr. Benz's known hot-tempered nature, she asserted that the cause of the shooting is still under investigation by the police.
