Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva and Anucha Burapachaisri campaigned at Din Daeng market, emphasizing Bangkok's potential for progress. Today, Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor, number 5, and Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the party leader, along with other party executives, visited Din Daeng Morning Market in Din Daeng District to campaign and interact with the public. The visit was characterized by warm interactions as shoppers and vendors greeted them, offered encouragement, and requested photos.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anucha remarked that during his interactions with the public, most people recall the Democrat Party as number 5 and resonate with its five core policies: convenient transportation, clean homes, comfortable living, improved income, and transparency in all matters. He noted that many believe focusing on these issues is sufficient, as existing problems can be addressed through effective oversight by permanent civil servants. Mr. Anucha highlighted that there is significant room for improvement, asserting that Bangkok can achieve more than its current state.
Mr. Anucha further stated that the Democrat Party, under Mr. Abhisit's leadership, intends to submit motions in the House of Representatives. These motions will propose amendments through urgent parliamentary sessions or discussions during meetings. The issues addressed extend beyond Bangkok, encompassing national infrastructure, economic problems, and sustainable security, aiming to enhance Thailand's competitiveness.
When questioned about solutions for the Din Daeng district's issues, Mr. Anucha emphasized improvements in living conditions, transportation, cleanliness, and income. He urged Bangkok residents to support the election of Democrat Party candidates for the Bangkok City Council in all 50 districts and the Governor of Bangkok.
Mr. Abhisit pointed out that the visit's importance lies not just in campaigning but in addressing existing problems. These include the misuse of cannabis, which poses multidimensional issues for Bangkok, and the persistent waste problem. He stressed the need for efficient waste separation, increased collection personnel, and proper management, especially in the On Nut area.
He mentioned that the Democrat Party has proposed a complete closed-loop system, initiated by a former governor, awaiting continuation. Regarding flooding, Mr. Anucha has discussed with the Drainage Department about utilizing giant tunnel structures or adding more for enhanced benefits. Mr. Abhisit concluded by stating that if Bangkok's residents believe these issues need addressing, the Democrat Party stands as the most transparent option.
