Bangkok: Former Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt announced on Thursday a 24-hour non-stop campaign tour across the capital's 50 districts ahead of Sunday's election, aiming to boost voter turnout as he seeks a second consecutive term.
According to Thai News Agency, the campaign, scheduled from Friday evening to Saturday evening, will feature night visits to meet late-shift workers and live-streamed broadcasts. Chadchart expressed concern over low voter engagement, urging residents to cast their ballots on June 28. He emphasized that a strong public mandate is crucial for the next governor to effectively implement policies and coordinate with other state agencies.
Chadchart also highlighted the city's 24-hour safety measures, noting that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has already installed 115,000 streetlights with plans for 100,000 more LED lights. He added that the city's CCTV network will be expanded to 100,000 cameras linked to a central command center, alongside boosting emergency medical response services.
The Bangkok gubernatorial and city council elections are scheduled for June 28, from 08:00 to 17:00 local time.
