Bangkok: An IFD poll reveals that 35.99% of Bangkok residents still support Chatchart, while Chaiwat, Anucha, and Mallika lag far behind.
According to Thai News Agency, the survey, led by Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Chareonwongsak and Ms. Jittima Boonwitaya, was conducted among 2,237 eligible voters in Bangkok between May 25-29, 2026. It boasts a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.1%. The poll indicates that Bangkok residents desire a leader who is "down-to-earth, knowledgeable, transparent, and has a proactive vision" to address pressing issues like traffic congestion, high transportation costs, pollution, waste management, and opportunities for small businesses.
Despite Chatchart Charnvirakul's clear lead in popularity polls, Dr. Kriengsak Chareonwongsak, also known as Dr. Dan, suggests that Chatchart's victory is not guaranteed. He outlines "seven miracles" that could potentially alter the election results: competitors withdrawing to leave one main challenger, vote consolidation towards this challenger, increased voter turnout for the opposing side, backlash from Pheu Thai's support, Chatchart's support causing political rifts, unexpected political mishaps, or Chatchart's withdrawal due to unforeseen circumstances.
The poll also explored the qualities Bangkok residents desire in a governor. Ranked third was a candidate who is visionary, proactive, and daring in transforming the city with modern ideas (16.90%). Other desired qualities included ensuring project continuity (11.41%), independence from interest groups (9.61%), and effective coordination with government agencies (5.95%).
When asked about their voting preferences for governor, 35.99% supported Chatchart Sittiphan, while 20.16% remained undecided. Chaiwat Sathavorawichit (13.77%), Anucha Burapachaisri (8.49%), and Mallika Boonmeetrakul Mahasuk (6.84%) trailed behind.
Residents also expressed their priorities for immediate action by the governor, with traffic congestion and transportation costs topping the list (19.49%). Addressing pollution and waste management followed closely (15.33%), along with supporting small businesses and regulating street vendors (13.68%).
Dr. Dan praised all seven leading candidates for their knowledge and commitment to Bangkok's welfare. However, he stressed that these "seven miracles" could change the election dynamics, urging all candidates not to be complacent. He concluded with words of encouragement for all candidates running for the position of Bangkok governor.
