Chiang Mai Residents Embrace “Thai Help Thai Plus” Scheme on Launch Day

Chiang mai: Chiang Mai residents flocked to exercise their rights under the "Thai Help Thai Plus" scheme on the first day, creating a lively atmosphere. The atmosphere on the first day of the Thai Help Thai Plus subsidy program was lively, with Chiang Mai residents continuously coming out to use their benefits to buy food, household goods, and consumer products. Many said it greatly helped reduce their financial burden, while businesses hoped it would boost their sales.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere in Chiang Mai city markets becomes increasingly lively as evening approaches, particularly at shops catering to holders of the government welfare card. Many people are using their cards, and several elderly individuals say they come out to buy essential supplies as the sun sets. They also hope the government will continue offering such beneficial programs, noting that the increase in the government-transferred funds from 300 baht to 1,000 baht is a significant help to low-income individuals.

In Khon Kaen, at Bang Lamphu fresh market in the city center, participating shops have put up signs to attract customers, and this has been effective, with a noticeable increase in sales. For example, seafood restaurants and fashion clothing stores have seen a surge in sales as vendors report more customers taking advantage of the program. Although initially customers were confused about the 60/40 split, they understood and made purchases immediately after receiving an explanation.
