Nakhon pathom: A gang of juvenile offenders was arrested for shooting at a rival group, injuring a bystander. Police have charged them with "attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm."
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage shows a group of teenagers exchanging gunfire near a convenience store in Mueang District, Nakhon Pathom Province, on July 3rd, between approximately 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM. Ms. Kanokporn, 21, was injured by a stray bullet. Witnesses stated that about 10 teenagers on motorcycles were circling the area in front of the store. One of the men in the group fired an unknown caliber firearm at their group, but the stray bullet hit the victim, identified only as Mr. A, before the assailant fled on a motorcycle.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Pitak Uppapong, Commander of Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, announced the progress of the case, stating that Nakhon Pathom police investigators arrested a 16-year-old boy, identified only as "A" (pseudonym), from Don Tum District, Nakhon Pathom Province, at an unmarked rented room in Don Tum District, Nakhon Pathom Province. They also seized a homemade .22 caliber firearm hidden in a blue plastic clothing box. Furthermore, they requested the Juvenile Court to detain two other accomplices: a 14-year-old boy who was a passenger in the middle of the vehicle, and a 13-year-old boy with no registered legal status who was the driver. They also confiscated the motorcycle used in the crime.
Mr. A admitted to being the perpetrator. Police therefore charged him with "attempted murder and possession of a firearm without a license from the registrar." He was taken into custody along with the evidence and handed over to the investigating officer for legal proceedings. Charges were also filed against the two juveniles, and a request was made to the Juvenile Court to detain them. As for the drivers of other motorcycles who were present at the time of the incident, their guardians were summoned to be informed of the circumstances and given a warning.
