Government Pushes Forward with Digital Health Initiative to Enhance Citizen Access

Bangkok: The government is accelerating the development of a digital healthcare system, upgrading the "Doctor Ready Super App" - a Digital Health Platform - and promoting a Digital Health Wallet to give citizens access to health information anytime, anywhere. Today, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is moving forward with upgrading the public health service system using digital technology to ensure that citizens have convenient, rapid, and comprehensive access to healthcare services.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Public Health, under the supervision of Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat, is accelerating the development of the "Doctor Ready Super App" and a Digital Health Platform, along with promoting a Digital Health Wallet to allow citizens to access their health information anytime, anywhere, free of charge.

Ms. Lalida stated that the development of a digital health system is one of the seven pillar policies of Thailand's public health (MOPH Plus) under the concept of "Good Health at All Stages, Building the Thai Economy with Innovation and Wisdom." This aims to connect people's health data to enable seamless access to services through the primary care network and hospitals, reducing service procedures, minimizing paperwork, and increasing the efficiency of healthcare.

Ms. Lalida further noted that the government prioritizes the use of digital technology to support the public health system in all aspects, including linking health data, promoting telemedicine services, and developing digital infrastructure, so that people can have equal access to medical services regardless of their location in the country.

Moreover, the government is committed to promoting the use of medical innovations alongside the development of the country's healthcare industry. This includes research and development, clinical trials, the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and the application of genomic medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) to enhance treatment capabilities, improve service quality, and build Thailand's competitiveness in the future medical industry.

"The government is committed to developing the public health system to ensure that people have convenient, rapid, and quality access to services through the use of digital technology and medical innovations, coupled with the expansion of the health economy, in order to propel Thailand towards becoming a global Medical and Wellness Hub and sustainably improve the quality of life for its citizens," Ms. Lalida said.
