Bangkok: The Office of the National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA), in collaboration with ASIIN, a German higher education accreditation organization, is moving forward with transforming Thai university standards through the ASIIN-MHESI-ONESQA Thailand Conference 2026. The conference highlighted the innovative "Joint Accreditation" system, piloting it to upgrade all nine Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) campuses. The goal is to cultivate human capital capable of meeting the strategic objectives of driving Thai education towards international standards.
According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Ongart Naipatt, Director of the Office of the National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (Public Organization) or ONESQA, revealed that ONESQA has developed an innovative Joint Accreditation system. This system utilizes high-quality assessment criteria from the ASIIN Institute in Germany, which is included in the recognized European education quality assurance database. This aims to build confidence and acceptance of the quality of Thai education, ultimately contributing to the goal of enhancing the capabilities of Thai people to possess expertise that meets the needs of national economic development and the dynamics of the global economy in the digital age.
"The use of a Joint Accreditation system will reduce duplication in the evaluation process, enhance the quality of education, and guarantee that graduates from accredited programs will have the same potential and standards as graduates from the European Union, ready to enter the job market with confidence."
Professor Dr. Ongart further added that the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) has developed a master plan to link accreditation standards with German standards, piloting the promotion of quality through the nine Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) campuses nationwide. This leverages their strengths in curriculum design, which emphasizes practical application in the style of applied science universities (Fachhochschule), rooted in the German education system, facilitating the upgrading and adaptation to ASIIN standards.
'The Office of the National Education Commission (ONEC) believes that the Joint Accreditation system will lead to standards that are not limited to academic certification, but will become a 'work passport' that will help transfer high-quality, premium workers with advanced engineering and technological skills that meet the needs of the target S-Curve industries, including companies from Thailand as well as large international corporations in the future,' Professor Dr. Ongart concluded.
The ASIIN-MHESI-ONESQA Thailand Conference 2026, held from June 22-24, 2026, at the Maenam Grand Ballroom, 2nd floor, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok, served as a platform for collaboration in enhancing the quality standards of universities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields between Thailand and Germany, with a focus on developing educational quality to meet the needs of the labor market.
