Ministry of Culture Hosts Buddhist Ceremony to Honor Princess Chulabhorn Walailak

Samut prakan: The Ministry of Culture organized a Buddhist chanting ceremony to offer merit in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. This event, held on the occasion of the Princess's birthday, served both as a tribute and a celebration.

According to Thai News Agency, Phra Phromwachirapothiwong, Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and Head of the Buddhist Mission to India and Nepal, presided over the religious ceremony. Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, delegated Mr. Prasop Riangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, to oversee the lay ceremony. The ceremony, which took place at Wat Suwannaphumi Buddhajayanti in Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan Province, was attended by various dignitaries including Mr. Supamit Chinsri, Governor of Samut Prakan Province, and Mr. Pojanat Panyasilp, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, alongside executives from the Ministry of Culture, government officials, staff, and members of the public.

Mr. Prasop Riangngern emphasized the significance of the occasion, stating that Thai people from all walks of life express their gratitude and loyalty to Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak through charitable acts and dedicated activities. Her Royal Highness has made significant contributions to the nation, Buddhism, arts and culture, and the development of the quality of life for the people.

In the realm of Buddhism, Her Royal Highness is recognized for her devotion and support of Buddhism both domestically and internationally. She has presided over significant projects, including the Dhamma Chedi Museum and the Dhamma Radio Station for the People. Her involvement in international Buddhist ceremonies, such as the mass ordination and Dhamma practice project in India, underscores her commitment to the religion.

In arts and culture, Her Royal Highness has been acknowledged for her artistic talents, particularly in painting. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized with the title of "Siri Silapin, National Artist" for the year 2024, bestowed by the Ministry of Culture for her valuable works and efforts in preserving national identity.

The Ministry of Culture, through the Department of Religious Affairs, collaborated with Wat Suwannaphumi Buddhajayanti and organized merit-making activities nationwide. These included Buddhist chanting ceremonies and offering lunch to monks, allowing the public to honor Her Royal Highness.
