Bangkok: The Royal Thai Navy is preparing to propose to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence for approval to allow a private company to build its first frigate. The project, which aims to enhance the naval capabilities of the country, is set to be submitted by July, with all pertinent details to be explained accordingly. According to Thai News Agency, Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, has confirmed that the process is proceeding on schedule. He emphasized the transparency of the initiative and assured that the acquisition of a high-quality vessel is a priority. The proposal's submission to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence is aligned with the timeline, and further details will be communicated by the Royal Thai Navy spokesperson. Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyapan, the spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, stated that after the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence approves the selection results, a comprehensive explanation will be provided. This disclosure will be within the permissible scope, excluding any information that might impact military operations. The transparency of the project remains a focus, ensuring no committee member is implicated in potential investigations by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Observers are in place to oversee the project's integrity, consistent with the established agreement. Reporters have noted that the Royal Thai Navy is set to submit the proposal for approval by July.
