Seripisut Criticizes Government’s 3.78 Trillion Baht Budget Spending

Bangkok: Pol. Gen. Seripisut Temiyaves, a Member of Parliament and leader of the Seri Ruam Thai Party, has publicly criticized the Thai government for its handling of the 2027 Budget Bill, which involves a substantial expenditure of 3.78 trillion baht. He expressed concern that the Prime Minister did not personally explain the budget, leaving the task to the Deputy Prime Minister instead, and accused the Speaker of the House of being biased.

According to Thai News Agency, Seripisut held a press conference to voice his dissatisfaction with the budget proceedings. He emphasized the importance of adhering to stated guidelines and noted that the Budget Bill outlined seven policy priorities, of which only two were genuinely implemented. These priorities included the government's policy objectives and the necessity for national and economic development, aiming for fairness for all citizens. He maintained that he approaches budgetary principles with fairness and justice, asserting that a flawed budget will not be accepted in principle.

Seripisut scrutinized Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's past actions, questioning his integrity and governance practices. He stressed that a budget benefiting the public is commendable, but one serving self-interests is harmful. He also questioned why he himself had not been accused of collusion with Senators by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), emphasizing his innocence due to a lack of specific evidence. Furthermore, he criticized the Speaker of the House, Mr. Sophon Saram, for allegedly being biased due to party affiliations, claiming that the Speaker prevented him from speaking due to such bias.

Seripisut expressed a desire to discuss the budget further, comparing fruitless conversations to talking to a cow. He questioned the current state of the country and the continued governance by individuals he considers corrupt, expressing concern for the nation's future under such leadership.
