Special Government Delegation to Discuss Strategies Amid Increased Southern Unrest

Bangkok: "Wannor" reveals that the Special Representative Committee is about to discuss strategies to quell the unrest in the South, acknowledging the frequent incidents.

According to Thai News Agency, a special government delegation is set to discuss strategies to address the unrest in the southern region, following frequent incidents. The peace dialogue committee has commenced its work, and there is optimism that the situation will improve.

Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor Matha, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister and Advisor to the Government's Special Representative Committee, emphasized the importance of understanding the root causes of the daily incidents. He noted that intelligence agencies must investigate these causes thoroughly. The government is actively monitoring the situation and has formed a committee to oversee developments in the area. Mr. Wan expressed hope that the situation would improve following the meeting of the Government's Special Representative Committee, which aims to develop a strategic approach to the issues in the southern border provinces.

Mr. Wan highlighted the ongoing benefits of peace talks, though he pointed out that the success of these talks depends heavily on cooperation and sincerity in addressing the issues. He acknowledged that development in the region is challenging if safety is not ensured. Peace talks are scheduled for the end of June.

Regarding the identification of perpetrators as separatist groups, Mr. Wan stated that conclusions should be deferred until the committee, appointed by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, has had the opportunity to meet and analyze the situation thoroughly.
