Bangkok: "Gun Jom Palang," in collaboration with the Drug Suppression Division police, successfully rescued a 17-year-old girl who had been coerced by her mother into filming private videos for sale online. The rescue operation took place after authorities received a tip regarding the girl's plight.
According to Thai News Agency, police officers from Nong Khang Phlu Police Station, working with the Child and Women Welfare Division, executed a raid on a rented house in the Saeng Siri community, Nong Khang Phlu Subdistrict, Nong Khaem District, Bangkok. The operation resulted in the rescue of Ms. A (pseudonym), along with a 3-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy. Ms. B (pseudonym), the 32-year-old mother, and Mr. C (pseudonym), the 30-year-old stepfather, were arrested. The stepfather tested positive for drugs and both individuals are currently under investigation.
The victim's 19-year-old aunt testified that she also suffered similar exploitation by her sister, being forced into prostitution with foreigners from the age of 15. The aunt recounted enduring up to 3-4 clients a day, with each encounter filmed. Her sister justified the exploitation by citing financial needs, including taking care of their bedridden father. The aunt revealed that she received a mere fraction of the earnings, which were primarily used for online gambling and drugs.
"Gun Jompalang" revealed that Ms. A was forced into prostitution at the age of 14. Concern for her younger siblings prevented her from escaping earlier. The Crime Suppression Division is actively investigating by examining digital evidence to prosecute those involved in the trafficking network. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has taken the rescued children into care for psychological support at the Bangkok Children and Family Shelter.
